Question about .PAPA Model Packages (not for Ren) _
PostSubject: Question about .PAPA Model Packages (not for Ren)   Question about .PAPA Model Packages (not for Ren) EmptyWed Jun 11, 2014 9:46 pm

This is a question about 3d modelling. These are the references I have about it so far.

https://forums.uberent.com/threads/reference-fbx-and-papa-import-and-export-related-information.60575/

So, my question is, the tool the devs released have never be used successfully yet.

"Papatran" is meant to transfer .fbx files into .papa files. As the devs stated in that reference, they use it to transport 3ds max .fbx to .papa for use in the game.

Now, I have had experience trying it, but the bones all change to a single "armature" named bone.

From what I understand, blender is a popular 3d program, but .FBX is a very variant package file that can be packed by a program 10 different ways and orders, and blender doesn't package the same .fbx that 3ds max.

Now, a community member made a papa-blender importer. However, blender doesn't export .fbx the way "papatran" wants so you can't convert it back. 3ds max doesn't have a papa-3ds importer, but when it imports blenders and exports .fbx it loses it's bones.

Anyone know much about this, any skillful adaptations to repack .fbx to a different .fbx layout, or to transfer .papa to .fbx or to another 3ds import plugin for it. I am asking for a lot, but I check the forums regularly and it hit me that 3d modelers exist here.

Bones on 3D models are notorious for never porting correctly, I once made a simple material setting adjustment to a W3D character model, (glass on the zone trooper suit for PIC), and wound up with the left ankle pinned to the waist of the character.

I was researching Blender's FBX exporter a couple months ago, and you'll find that the exporter barely made it into the blender public release because of software licenses. There were a few people that were loving what their projects could do once the exporter was added. Why not try the Blender official forum, someone should have had the same issue.

Oh I forgot to post, but blender fixed this very recently, it's last update in fact. Some progress is being made, but the blender part isn't the issue anymore. Thanks for replying it is very appreciated however.
