| I had to reformat my computer. I forgot to backup some shit which sucks. I was wondering, what anti virus/malware/etc software you guys use? I kept BSoDing so i was told it could have been from conflicting antivirus software, because my memory is fine (memcheck86 checked) and i ran other scans, like prime95. Free software (or torrented if its safe) |

| Is there a free version of Avast? I know there was a few years ago. The problem is, i had multiple anti virus programs and I was told thats bad. So i want to have the best coverage while using the fewest programs. |

| Hehe, yes there is a free version. It's a good anti-virus, i like it.
The one i had before was AVG, and it was shit. Never get an AVG or you will regret lol
O well, I would like to have Nod32 also. |

| I recently had AVG before, I removed it because it flagged half of my games as trojans lol. So I went for Avast! And its free for 30 days. |

| LOL at maks. no.... just no, that sucks. Im using this one called kaspersky. Its quite good. Better than NOD32 (although there is always a debate) so im gonna use this trial for 30 days, then nod32 and see which one i like the most. |

| kasperky is one of the most recomended but there is no free vercion i think, like duke_nukem i use avast free edition and malwarebytes, i have been using this 2 convined for like 3 years whitout any problem, i higly recommend this 2, as for malwarebytes if you look at google you can find some keygen to make it full vercion. |

| I have NEVER had a problem with AVG calling out false positives and that's all I use... Microsoft Security Essentials is actually pretty good. Last time I used Avast! Free Edition, I got a virus that deleted my registry...
If you're going to pay for an antivirus NOD32 or kaspersky are my choices. FYI: NOD means No Open Doors.
Also: You don't have to have a separate anti spyware anymore as most antivirus software catches every type/kind of unwanted software. Not necessarily every piece of unwanted software though. You have to expect a new one to slip past a few machines before the new virus definition blocks it.
EDIT: I don't think eset has left NOD32 open to cracking at all seeing as you need to give email addresses and names and such to get the trial version. You MUST use a VALID email address to gety the trial because it emails the link straight to your inbox and that link is one time use. |
